Description
Asperula Odorata is a perennial, herbaceous plant15-25 cm tallwith straight stems, 4 edgeswithout ramifications, with nodes without bumpsThe leaves are arranged in whorls, 6 at the bottom of each stem and 8 at the top. They have an elongated oval shape, covered with stiff hairs on the edges and the main rib. The entire plant is glabra, glossy, especially on the upperleaves. The flowers are white, small and fragrant, arranged in bunches at the stem tip. A flower is composed of a calyx with 4 very small sepals, a funnel-shaped corolla with 4 petals and 4 stamens. The dried fruit consists of two parts, on which there are stiff hairs with a hook shaped tip. It blooms from May to June. It grows in shady forests, from lowlands up to mountain areas. 


Harvest
It is harvested before and after blooming. Active principle (coumarin) is formed in the early stages of development and appears only when the plant has dried.


Drying Mode
It is dried in the shade, naturally, in thin layers. If dried artificially, the temperature should not exceed 35 degrees Celsius. From 6-7 kg of fresh plant, you can obtain 1 kg of dried product.


Uses
It is used in liver disease, as a diuretic and especially in the liqueur industry. Internally: for biliary dyskinesia.
